EMU at Lancaster offers several options for K-12 teachers looking to grow in their knowledge and skills within the fields of ESL and Reading. The education disruption of the pandemic has only exacerbated the challenges that ELLs and young readers experience. Our graduate-level courses in ESL and Reading will equip you to serve these students in creative and effective ways. Consider the following options:

  • MA in Education with a concentration in ESL or Literacy (36-39 credits)  *PA teachers who satisfy all requirements will also be recommended to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for certification.
  • Graduate Certificate in ESL or Reading Specialist (16-24 credits) *PA teachers who satisfy all requirements will also be recommended to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for certification.
  • Advanced Practitioner in ESL or Reading Specialist (9 credits) *Take three of the key classes in either area to learn the fundamental skills that will equip you to better serve your students.
