Shalom Christian Academy alum Christina Gardner Helfrick, Class of 2001, understands the value of a Christian education. “What Shalom did is give me a solid knowledge base of the Bible,” she said. “God’s word is written on my heart.”
Christina originally attended Shalom because of her mother. She shared, “My mom taught English in the middle school and wanted a Christian education for my sister and I.” She ended up getting far more out of the experience than she ever could have expected. “I…became friends with my now husband in middle school at Shalom. We started dating in 9th grade, and have been together ever since,” she said.
After graduating from Shalom, Christina began working as a social worker in the public school system. She recently received her doctorate in social work and now serves as a professor at Lancaster Bible College. She said her work is “very much inspired by the life changing power of the relationships I had growing up.”
