Hope for the Future conferences began in 2011 as
a gathering of Racial/Ethnic leaders throughout Mennonite Church USA.
These annual conferences are designed to bring together the different
Racial/Ethnic groups — Asian Mennonite Ministries; African American Mennonite
Association; African, Belizean, Caribbean, Mennonite Missions Association; Iglesia
Menonita Hispana (Hispanic Mennonite Church); and Native Mennonite
Ministries — and to strategize ways to increase Racial/Ethnic representation
among Mennonite Church leadership.
The conference is a time for participants to gather together as a worshiping community of faith in a safe place for open conversation among leaders and
emerging leaders of Mennonite Church USA, regardless of their culture or family
name. Participants at Hope for the Future are naming the challenges
Racial/Ethnic leaders face and seeking ways to lead systemic practices towards
MEA is one of the sponsors of this event with MEA executive director, Carlos
Romero serving as one of the event planners.
